William Donnell Whigham, Sr. William Donnell "Bill" Whigham, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend died July 10, 2009, after a battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 81 and has been a resident of Colonial Lodge in Plano, Texas for the past 3 1/2 years after moving there from Laurel. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Colonial Lodge in Plano, Texas with a graveside burial service at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at 9:30 a.m. on July 16. He was born to Wilson Tellie and Lillie Brooks (Gatlin) Whigham in Laurel on Sept. 15, 1927. He graduated from high school there after he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II until 1946. In 1947, he was married to Patsy R. Sharp of Laurel. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW and American Legion. Bill had a long and satisfying career with the oil services division of Armco Steel (AKS), and after retiring from there, he enjoyed RV travels all over the country.He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 62 years, Patsy R. Whigham, currently residing at Colonial Lodge in Plano, Texas; his son, Don Whigham and wife Phyllis of Plano, Texas; his grandson, Scott Whigham and wife Susan of Dallas, Texas; his grand-daughter, Jill (Whigham) Gordon and husband Justin of Jackson; a sister, Vondell Herrell of Florence, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Seth and Wyatt Whigham of Dallas, Texas and Jase Gordon of Jackson.To sign or view the family guestbook, visit www. leadercall.com.North Dallas Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas is in charge of arrangements. Danny LaDon Whigham
Danny LaDon Whigham, a resident of County Road 101, Abbeville, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2009, in the emergency room of a Eufaula hospital. He was 37. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Danny Whigham Funeral Expense Fund, c/o Freddie Brannon, 947 County Road 12, Headland, AL 36345.
Danny Whigham was born and reared in Headland. He was a 1990 graduate of Headland High School and was a member of the Marching Blue and Gold Band and also a 1990 State Honor Band recipient. He attended Wallace College where he was in the Jazz Band and also attended Troy University-Dothan. He moved to the Brown's Crossroads community of Henry County in 1998. Danny was employed as the Manager of the Henry County Senior RX Prescription Program. An accomplished musician, he served as a vocalist, keyboardist and booking agent for the Shane Owens and 231 South Band. Danny was a member of the Union Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Berry and Clara Hodges and Daniel E. and Blondell Whigham and also by an uncle, Dale Tompkins.
Surviving relatives include his parents, Don and Patty Hodges Whigham, Headland; a brother, Johnathan Barry Whigham, Abbeville; aunts and uncles, Wanda and Freddie Brannon, Headland; Lavenia Tompkins, Troy; Wanda and George Williams, Ozark; several cousins.
Thomas Gordon Whigham

Retired businessman, Thomas Gordon Whigham, 79, of Farmington, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, in Farmington, following a lengthy illness. Tom was born July 27, 1929, in Iowa Park, Texas, to Carl Leslie Whigham Sr. and Suzanna Benjamin Whigham.
He grew up in Kilgore, Kermit and Odessa, Texas, and graduated from Odessa High School in 1948. He enjoyed football as a young man and one of his greatest thrills was playing as a lineman on the Odessa High state football championship team in 1946. Tom married the former Rosalind Virginia McDonald on April 9, 1949, in Kermit.
Tom was a member of the Texas National Guard and was called to active duty with the Army in April 1953. He was a tank driver with the First Armored Division stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant before his discharge in April 1955.
Tom worked with his father at Whigham Well Service Company in Odessa before his active military duty. In 1955, he and Virginia moved to Farmington, where he again joined his father in an oil field business, Whigham Drilling Company. Tom was an independent drilling contractor after Whigham Drilling closed in 1974, and in 1977, he formed Whigham Frac Tank Rental Company. He sold that company and retired in 1983.
Tom loved his wife and adored his daughter. He enjoyed talking with friends, as well as making new acquaintances. He had a smile and special place in his heart for children. Tom was a proud American and supporter of the Republican Party.
He was an excellent private pilot and also was adept at trapshooting and restoring vintage automobiles. He and Virginia enjoyed traveling in their motor home, visiting sites in Canada and across the western U.S., including two trips to Alaska. He was fond of short trips to Colorado as well, and spent many days at his Vallecito Lake cabin, where he enjoyed boating and fishing.
Tom was a member of the First Methodist Church in Farming-ton and in past years served the congregation in a variety of roles, including usher, on the finance committee and administrative board and as trustee.
He volunteered with Northwest New Mexico Hospice, was a patron of the Farmington Museum Foundation and a member of the Four Corners Trap Club and the Amateur Trapshooting Association.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathleen Sue Sparks, Pauline Marie Stanley; and brother, Carl Leslie Whigham Jr. Tom is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Linda Glass and husband, Raymond, of Conroe, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at First United Methodist Church, 808 N. Monterey Ave., in Farmington. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Northwest New Mexico Hospice, 608 Reilly Ave. Farmington, NM 87401, or the www.alz.org.
Martha Byrd Whigham
LOUISVILLE, ALABAMA Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Boyd Whigham, age 99, of Louisville, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Louisville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Baker and Rev. Larry Gill will officiate and burial will follow in the Louisville Cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Clayton directing. Mrs. Whigham died Sunday, January 3, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery after a brief illness. Born September 11, 1910 in Dale County, Mrs. Whigham was the daughter of the late L. Ed Byrd and Myrtle Martin Byrd. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob "Steelarm" Whigham. From her marriage to Mr. Whigham until her death she lived in Louisville and was a member of the Louisville Methodist Church where she was active in the Methodist Women's Association. She was a wife, mother and homemaker and helped Mr. Whigham in their hardware store. Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law, Byrd Whigham and Boyd and Blanche Whigham, all of Louisville; three granddaughters, Lisa W. Taylor and Allison W. Kendall, both of Fairhope and Angela W. Mearns, Granite Falls, NC; and 11 great grandchildren, Boyd, Christopher and Rob Taylor, Casey, Ted and Ben Kendall and Andrew, Nathan, Asher, Tristan, and Riley Mearns. Ask to serve as pallbearers were John Larry Baxter, Boyd Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Ed Kendall, Dent Richards, Jimmy Grant, Bill Strickland and Bobby Bennett. Billy Vandyke Whigham
Billy Vandyke Whigham, son of Mack Loyd and Lilla Dozier Whigham, passed away on December 31, 2009. He was the father of one son, Robby. Further information will be added when it is received.

Byron Sewell Whigham
Mr. Byron Sewell Whigham of Kinston passed away on November 29, 2009. He was 66. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Earlytown Church of Christ Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at Pittman Funeral Home in Samson prior to the service Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Mr. Whigham was born in Samson, AL on January 3, 1943 to the late Vernon and Lizzie Mae Whigham. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Sydney Harold Whigham. He served in the US Navy, where he was twice selected for the prestigious Sailor of the Year Award. He retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer. At the time of his death, Mr. Whigham was supervisor for the Federal and State Inspection Service.
Ellis Glen Whigham 
Ellis Glen Whigham, 66 of Poteau, OK passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009 in Poteau. Ellis was born in Gilbertown, Alabama on September 17, 1942, to Haskell C. & Edith (King) Whigham. He was the Airport Manager for the past 6+ years. He was a member of the Poteau First United Methodist Church; a 32nd degree Mason (Sebastian Lodge # 706 Ft. Smith, AR); member of the Western Arkansas Scottish Rite, Scimitar Temple. Ellis was a certified aircraft mechanic, graduating from Tulsa County Vo-Tech; a private pilot; avid motorcycle rider; awesome husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend. He was loved and admired by many, especially his 5 wonderful grandsons who worshipped him. Survivors include his wife, Jean Ann of the home; 2 daughters & sons in law, Jeanie Renee & Kirt Scott of Houston, TX, Teresa Ann & Billy Newby of Poteau, OK; 5 Grandsons, Kameron Andrew Scott, Ryan Matthew Scott & Cory Allan Scott all of Houston, William Dalton Newby & Eli Colten Newby of Poteau, OK; father, Haskell C. Vallie Mae Whigham
Graveside services for Vallie Mae Whigham, 80, of Cairo, are 2 p.m. Sunday at Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate. A native of Virginia, Mrs. Whigham had resided in Cairo since 1963, moving from Tennessee. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Whigham died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Lee County Health Care. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Whigham, and her parents, Harvey and Helen Travis. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Pressley and her husband George of Lee County; a son, Garry Greer and his wife Renae of Statesville, N.C.; two step-sons, Leverne Whigham of Cairo and Bobby Whigham and his wife Margie of Ridge Manor, Fla.; a step-daughter, Jane Whigham of Zephyrhills, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and, seven great-grandchildren. Carroll Diane Hudson Whigham
A native of Mobile, and a resident of Saraland, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Johnny Whigham, two sons; Scott (Kristene) Simmons of Slidell, LA., and Chad (Jessica) Simmons of Saraland, Three brothers; David (Jan) Hudson of Saraland, Bobby Hudson of Louisville, KY., and Jerald Wilber of Tuscaloosa, AL., one sister; Cindy Smith of Tuscaloosa, AL., Loving Mom; Edna Hudson of Tuscaloosa, six grandchildren, and a host of friends and family that love her very much. Lawson Whigham Johnson Lawson Whigham Johnson, died Monday evening, January 4, 2010, at his daughter's home in Enterprise. He was 98. The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Bob Gross and Rev. Freddie McCain officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Chapel. Mr. Johnson was born on March 9, 1911, in Mt. Pleasant, TN, the son of Willie Eugenia Whigham and Crockett Westmore-land Johnson. In 1929, Mr. Johnson graduated from Dothan High School and attended Auburn University. He was employed by the U. S. Post Office for many years and was Postmaster in Pinckard, AL when he retired in 1978. He also worked for many years in the Bookkeeping Department of Southtrust Bank. Mr. Johnson served in the U. S. Army in World War II in both Europe and the Philippines. He was an avid golfer and long time member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Beckham Johnson; two brothers, William Johnson and Wiley Johnson; and two sisters, Mary Hannah Fain and Frances Eugenia Hall. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Palmer Penny, Enterprise; his son, John Lawson Johnson, Montgomery; his grandchildren and spouses, Elizabeth Penny Maddox (John), Atlanta, GA, and John Andrew Penny (Jessica), Atlanta, GA; one step-grand-son, William Maddox, Atlanta, GA and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Milton Adams, Dothan, and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Willingham, Atlanta, GA.
